The course builds a three-dimensional map of the human body, with an emphasis on the head, neck, face and oral cavity. You learn to identify bones, muscles, blood vessels, nerves and glands and understand how their proximity affects anesthesia, displacement, photography and safe treatment.

What does it look like in practice?

What do you learn in the course?Physiology for dentistry?
You learn how the body's systems maintain blood pressure, breathing, fluid balance, sensation and pain, and how disease or medicine changes the patient's response to dental treatment. The course connects systemic function with saliva, chewing, swallowing and healing in the oral cavity.

The course explains the molecular processes that build enamel, dentin and soft tissues and control energy, inflammation and healing. Learn how saliva, oral bacteria, sugars, acids and minerals affect demineralization, remineralization and caries.

This is the basic course that connects dental development, microscopic structure of oral tissues, saliva, microbiome and common diseases. He teaches to see the mouth as a biological system where tissues, bacteria, nutrition, habits and immune defense influence each other.

Learn to identify diseases and lesions of the mucous membranes, teeth, bone and salivary glands and build a differential diagnosis based on a story, examination, photography and microscopy. The course emphasizes the distinction between normal variation, infection, immune disease, premalignant lesion and tumor.

Is a degree in Dentistry difficult?
There is no single answer — difficulty depends on your background, the institution, and your chosen study pace. According to this site's estimate, The degree has a relatively small quantitative component, so mathematics is usually not the main obstacle, and a large share of the reading material is in English. A good way to assess fit is to review the course map on this page: if most of the subjects interest you, the effort will usually feel worthwhile.
How long does a degree in Dentistry take?
Usually 5-6 years (A long professional path with pre-clinical and clinical studies). Exact duration varies by institution and depends on course load and the track you choose.
Dentistry or Medicine — which is right for me?
The degrees most closely related to Dentistry are Medicine, Nursing, and Occupational Therapy. Their differences are usually in emphasis rather than the overall subject, so the fastest way to decide is to compare their course maps — what you actually study in each program, year by year. What are the admission requirements?
Similar to medicine: a very high weighted score (usually 720+ psychometric), personality assessments and interviews. Few places — so many study abroad and return for licensing exams.
How much can a dentist earn?
Salaried work at HMOs and chains starts near the average, but the potential in private practice and specialties (orthodontics, surgery, prosthodontics) is far higher — among the most profitable health professions.
Medicine or dentistry?
